We are always welcoming new volunteers to staff our PetSmart Charities [1] Pet Adoption Centers.

You will find We CARE-4-Paws volunteers in select PetSmart stores from [2] Maryland to [3] Northern Virginia.

How Do I Apply?

You can view our entire listing of excellent [4] volunteer opportunities at VolunteerMatch.Org. Refer yourself or your friends, family or civic group you may belong with. If you are ready to volunteer, you can also:

• Drop by one of our PetSmart Charities Adoption Centers and pick up a Volunteer Application Packet

Making a Difference, A Rewarding Experience!

When you volunteer with We-CARE-4-Paws, you will make a big difference in the lives of our sheltered cats and dogs. It is truly a rewarding experience!

1. Socializing with our furry friends
2. Assist in the adoption process
3. Open your home in fostering our friends before they are put up for adoption

Finding “Forever” Homes

Our main goal is finding “forever” homes for our beautiful friends, whether they be cats or dogs. We CARE-4-Paws volunteers assist prospective adopters with:

• Ensuring a compatible match between our Furry Friend and the prospective family
• Filling out paperwork and explaining the requirements to take our friends home
• Answer any questions they may have to the best of your knowledge
• You will also be involved with the checkout process through the store’s cashier line

Volunteer Requirements

This is a short list of our requirements.

1. Must be 18-years of age or accompanied by parent/guardian
2. Completed & signed Volunteer Application Form
3. Complete our Liability Release Form
4. Attend our volunteer training session

You must be at least 18-years of age to be a volunteer.

What if I am not yet 18-years old?

If you are under the age of 18-years, then:

1. Your parent or legal-guardian [sponsor] must be the primary volunteer
2. Your name [and other minor-aged children or young adults] is listed on the the application form
3. When visiting the adoption center, you must be accompanied by your parent or sponsor when you show up for socializing, a volunteer shift, or other visits

Exceptions to this rule are handled on a case-by-case basis and approved by the Volunteer Coordinator.

What Can You Expect?

The undying unconditional love of an animal who appreciates your kindness and generosity! You will go home feeling rejuvenated and your spirit elevated, knowing your work is making a difference in our sheltered guests lives

Kitty Socializing

As a volunteer, you can drop by the PetSmart Charities Adoption Center to socialize with our freindly felines up for adoption. They really love it when when they are petted, held and talked to. Socializing benefits our kitties in many ways, some of which are:

• Promotes the bonding with human beings
• Reassures their spirit and comforts their soul
• Gives hope in finding a loving and caring home

Pet Adoption Center Upkeep

A prime duty of a We CARE-4-Paws volunteer is helping with upkeep of our PetSmart Charities Pet Adoption Center. Some of the chores include the following:

• Kitty’s cage cleaning
• Kitty’s bedding cleaned up and changed if soiled
• The litter boxes cleaned
• Restocking of kitty supplies
• Trash emptied
• Floors swept
